Make Your Mark: Two part event

  • pin Show Map St. Mark Youth Enrichment 1201 Locust Street Dubuque, IA, 52001 United States

Have you been noticing events and dialogue in our country and communities? From police shootings of Black community members, to the Pulse gay nightclub attack, to ongoing harassment of Muslims, negative comments about immigrants, refugees, and murders of transgender folks. How has it felt? How have you been processing it all? Would you like to start local and strategize with community members about making positive change?

Make Your Mark is a free event with two parts. Light food will be served!

During the first part you will have time to share in small circles how you have felt during everything that has been going on in our country. You will be encouraged to share your experiences while others listen. You will be heard.

We invite people of all races, gender identities, faiths, sexual orientations, immigration origin and refugee origin to join us to share and listen.

After the listening circles are complete we will move into action, the second part of the evening. What action do you think we could take around issues related to race, gender identity, sexual orientation, refugee & immigrant inclusion, and faith locally, state wide, and nationally? What are your ideas? Everyone who stays for this portion will have a chance to write down their ideas, share them in small groups, and then vote on the ideas to which they want to contribute their skills and talents.
------------------------------------
The event will start at 6:00 p.m., so if you want to be part of the listening circles, please arrive no later than 6:15 p.m. The action portion will begin around 8:00 p.m.
