The Grand Opera House will A Christmas Story, a comedy adapted by Philip Grecian from the motion picture.

Location: Auditions will be held at the Grand’s Rehearsal space in the Arcade Building, 880 Locust St., Suites 222 and 228. Please enter though the alley entrance located between Locust and Main. When you enter go up just past the first hallway and take the stairs on the left to the second floor. The rooms are right at the top of the stairs.

November 25th and 26th & December 2nd and 3rd at 7:30 PM
November 27th and December 4th at 2:00 PM

Humorist Jean Shepherd's memoir of growing up in the Midwest in the 1940s follows 9-year-old Ralphie Parker in his quest to get a genuine Red Ryder BB gun under the tree for Christmas. All the elements from the beloved motion picture are here. 

Seeking men, women, boys and girls for the following roles:
Ralph as an adult A storyteller, also plays, Cowboy, Tree Lot Owner, Delivery Man and the Voice of a Neighbor
Ralphie Parker Ralph at 9 years old
Mother his mother
The Old Man his father

Miss Shields his teacher

Scut Farkas a bully, also plays Black Bart in
Ralphie’s fantasies
Desperado One a character in Ralphie’s fantasies
Desperado Two a character in Ralphie’s fantasies
Additional children for classroom and playground scenes

Actors wishing to audition but are unavailable to arrive at the start of the audition time should call the Grand Opera House business office at 563-588-4356 to give an approximate arrival time. Those auditioning should be prepared to list all conflict or potential conflicts between Monday, October 17th and Saturday, November 19th. Availability for evening dress/tech rehearsals November 20th -23rd and all performances is mandatory. Final dress rehearsal will be Wednesday, November 23rd. There will not be a rehearsal on Thanksgiving, November 24th.  

Actors will be asked to read form the script. Perusal copies of the script sides are available at the Grand Opera House business office 135 West 8th Street, Dubuque, between 9:00am-4:00pm Monday through Friday.
