Northwestern Illinois Gender and Sexuality Alliance Volunteer Training

Reminder that this Sunday, September 24th, we will be holding another Northwestern Illinois Gender and Sexuality Alliance Volunteer Training.  The training will take place at the CTE Academy in Elizabeth, Illinois.  The training runs from 3:00 - 5:30 pm.  There is no cost to attend the training and refreshments will be provided.  The only cost is if you decide you would like to become a volunteer at our meetings with the students.  There is a $10 fee associated with this to cover the cost of background checks.  Both cash and check are accepted.

During this training we will review the mission and goals of our organization--the NW IL GSA--as well as go over basic gender and sexuality terminology, and concepts.  Additionally, the final piece will highlight the various options of becoming a volunteer for our organization, expectations, and guidelines.

You do not need to commit to volunteering in any capacity to attend the training.  Additionally, we welcome all education levels.  No previous training or education on the topics of gender and sexuality is needed.

The training will be lead by three professional educators that are also a part of the NW IL GSA Board.  If you have any questions or concerns, please let us know!

Back to the 80's Dance: A Benefit for Rick Bower

LET'S GO BACK TO THE 80'S 😎

As you may know, earlier this summer Rick Bower was diagnosed with cancer- stage 4 squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck. Since then, his friends and loved ones have rallied around him for support in this difficult time. Throwing a party at The Whisky was a no-brainer, and we’re looking forward to having you all together for a fun night to celebrate Rick and raise some much needed funds.

$5 gets you a free drink AND raffle ticket at the door.
We’re giving away a slew of prizes all night long!
DJ Breezah kicks off the dance party upstairs at 8pm.
We’ll have a photobooth, so don’t forget your 80s costume!

Thank you so very much to those have already contributed to the onlinefundraiser.
If you can’t make it to the party, here’s the donation link:http://www.gofundme/rickbower

**We are still in need of raffle items! Businesses will receive promotion online & on day of event.
Not a business but still want to help out? We’ll gladly accept some rad prize items from you!
